There are a lot of documentaries out there today that discuss some important achievements, events, people, or even disasters that have occurred in history throughout the world, but I would have never thought that there would be one that talked about one of my favorite childhood toys, LEGOs.
The documentary started off giving a brief history of LEGOs and what exactly they were, but then showed how it was more than just a couple of bricks. I think that this documentary is one of the best documentaries that I have seen. Childhood toys advance either social or gender constructs to propel the concept of gender identity. I can still remember the most important things from my girlhood - my friends, the first travels, young parents, the first songs and favorite toys!
Unfortunately I don't have them any longer, but my memory sometimes brings them back and I return to these peaceful and happy moments in my life. Now, after so many years I can clearly remember my experimenting with the Lego constructor. I used to assemble, no - create, a lot of fascinating things! It is only now that I understand how wise my parents were to give me the presents of various Lego sets. This toy is one of the most mind-blowing and interesting child games. The constructor lego is one of the games for children which are not only an entertainment but also education.
The process of creating different impossible structures was absolutely useful for devoloping my imagination and creative thinking. Constructor lego is designed so that its parts can be connected in many ways, inventing each time a variety of designs. You can build pirate ships and knights castles, play ambulance, police, fire brigade and thus to learn the world around you and show imagination and create everything by yourselfself. Certainly, I was only a child and couldn't boast of having the engineering thinking! I used the Lego parts in the most unpredictable ways absolutely ignoring all the laws of physics and geometry. I was able to create my own imaginary world inhabiting it with those creatures and structures which were clear only to me. How excited I was! I felt so proud and always showed my creative works to my parents who never criticised me but always encouraged to carry on designing something absolutely new and different.
The Lego constructor is the most evocative toy of my childhood. The Toys City building has six floors, and every floor has a different category that can select the toys from different cartoon shows. My toys were at third floor, so we went there swiftly. An hour later, I was so tired by choosing the one I want, yet every toy was very attractive to me. Just by the fact that It allows children to make their own decisions for a change, like what she will wear and how her hair will look. It also keeps children occupied, which has a positive effect on the parents too! I helped my mom wrap the box with pink sparkly Barbie wrapping paper because she loved Barbie dolls. One time when I went to her house after school, there was a huge Barbie Dream House and then I gave my mom the idea to give her a Barbie doll.
When I saw lots of people my age playing with a ball and kicking it I knew i wanted to play I begged my mom to sign me up. Before I was born, my family moved into a bigger house so we all can have our own room. My favorite doll was a light pink rag doll that my mom gave me as a baby but then I outgrew that doll and was in love with a Curious George stuffed animal that my dad bought me. The Curious George doll was practically the same size as me. I would take him everywhere I went and that doll is in every baby picture. My first memory would definitely be a positive memory. I would have to say my first memory would be at my grandparents house in the summer.
I was playing with my toys with my older sister. We played inside as well as outside on my grandparents huge deck. This event was a fond memory and I only had a few bad memories as a child, but mostly positive. We had never seen them before, but soon their daughter, Helena, and I became friends. Helena was tall and as skinny as the hand of a bug. She looked amusing to me because she had rectangular shaped objects close together attached to her teeth. I did not know this was braces until my sister had to get one. She took me to her room where she had a lot of toys, like dolls of all the Disney princesses and we played with them together. It is and Chris Wiggs is tired of his daughter Joanna carrying around these massive barbie dolls.
He decided to no longer put up with it and create a smaller version of a doll instead. polly pockets they were named, mostly because of the fact that they were so small they could fit into your pocket. When he first designed these toys he had no idea they would be majorly popular for over 10 years, have many variations and eventually end in discontinuation. Bluebird Toys were the first to license the toy and shortly after in the toys hit the stores. Home Flashcards Create Flashcards Essays Essay Topics Language and Plagiarism Checks.

Every child has a favorite toy. Whether it be a bright red racer or a plastic playhouse, to each his own world of imagination. Personally, since I was just a small child, I owned a baby lamb which I kindly named BaeBae. He meant the world to me. I refused to go anywhere without my little lamb by my side. Every summer, our family would drive up to our lake house, something my family had built before my sister and I were born. Naturally, BaeBae tagged along. The desert air normally blisters in the summer heat. However this evening, the air rang cool. I was sitting tucked away in our cluttered yet bare garage in a neon green plastic playset.
I was getting too big to tuck my knees under the table comfortably so they hung over to the right, crossed at the ankles. BaeBae was balanced gently on my lap as I listened to my parents watching the T. from the other room. The floating sound of muffled music filled the air like mist after a warm rainy day. Not even a few minutes later my sister peered through the door to see what I was up too. Too old to play with dolls. His name is BaeBae for heaven's sake! What would people think of you? More grown-up. She laughed. She did not like the name and truthfully, neither did I. But, I had no intention of seeming childish. As the years dragged on I slowly stopped playing with Brian all together. If I was going to grow up I had to act like a grown-up.
Eventually, we even sold the lake house and stopped traveling over the summer. What was there to see? Buildings and structures seemed to lose their individuality. They blended together with the same blocky walls and stained glass that mirrored each other tenfold. Sure, they had their perks here and there, but in the end, they were all the same. Brian was kept in my closet. Nothing too noticeable, but open enough for just me to see him clearly. His worn-down fur soaked and brimming with leftover love from a young child. His eyes, small and calm with a soothing reassurance to them, glinted when hit by the light. Every so often on a particularly difficult day, I would take him down from his resting place and look at him with melancholy.
As the time kept marching forward I kept growing and growing, with Brian still tucked away for only me to see. Through these years of in and out of the closet, I started to learn. Not just about science or math, but about humanity and society. Once again my perspective started to shift, but this time, at my own doing. On one extraordinarily average day, I decided to pay Brian a visit, it had been a while after all. But this felt different. To my surprise, instead of being greeted with melancholy, my heart bloomed with admiration. After a few minutes, and even more surprisingly, I opened the closet door with BaeBae still in hand. Fresh air seeped into my lungs as I stepped closer and closer towards my bed, each step seemingly creating new sounds to fit my new ears, new sights to fit my new eyes.
As though he were a doll made of glass that could shatter at any wrong movement, I laid him carefully on my messy overthrown sheets for all to see. What was there left to hide? What does it matter if someone were to see him? He was mine from the start. I had the choice to let people see him at the risk of being called immature. It was my choice all along. Although I would have never written anything about my stuffed childhood friend a few years ago, I now know that to hide what might be viewed as embarrassing or childish to someone else might be seen as something of a sanctuary to you. If you live a life cast away into what you think people want, you will never feel fulfilled. You are the only one who decides what you are and how you live.
The world can be cruel. But to those who know and accept who they are, it evolves into a vast playground molded by pure, unfiltered, childlike imagination. Essay Samples Writing Help.
